The Leonardi Farm dates back to 1700, but it was in the second half of 1800 that it specialized in the production of high quality Balsamic Vinegar, by using its own products. The farm encloses 10 hectares of land on which vineyard are cultivated, mostly Modena Trebbiano (white grapes) and Lambrusco (red grapes), in the qualities of Sorbara, Castelvetro and Acellotta. It is therefore a closed-loop company, or short production line, because all the production phases take place in the place of harvest. The Balsamic Vinegar is a unique condiment in the world, produced in small quantity as it is very closely linked to the Provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It looks like the microclimate of these areas, with big jumps in temperature between the very warm summer and very cold winter, allows the must to ferment and ripen following the traditional production methods. This tradition is still alive in the Leonardi family that with patience and care reproduce every year the production cycle of the Modena Balsamic, with gestures that have been repeated for centuries and that generate an always new emotion. Giovanni, Clelia, Francesco an Clara Leonardi, surrounded by experts, will welcome you in the family estate, “Antica Corte dei Campi Macri”, to show you the long and charming life course of the noble Balsamic Vinegar.
